DMCH observes international infection prevention week

Ludhiana, October 19, 2019: A week long ‘Hospital Infection Control Week’ got concluded today with interactive training sessions being held with nurses, technicians and para-medical staff to sensitize them about preventing hospital-acquired functions.

Among the various methods adopted to prevent hospital-acquired functions, proper ‘Hand Washing’ is one of the best techniques.

Secretary- Prem Kumar Gupta congratulated ‘Hospital Infection Committee’ for their continuous efforts in generation of awareness on infection prevention.

Dean Academics & Chairman of Hospital Infection Control Committe- Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina highlighted on the importance of vaccines in prevention of Infections which rhymes with the theme of 2019: “Vaccines are everybody’s business.”

Dr Deepinder Chhina (Professor and Head of Microbiology) highlighted on the importance of proper disposal of biomedical waste in prevention of Hospital acquired infections. Dr Sarit Sharma, Infection control officer, shared his thoughts on the importance of hand hygiene and commemoration of such awareness activities in the hospital.

Health education lectures for the nursing and paramedical staff are being held every day by the infection control Committee. More than 200 nurses and paramedical staff has been trained during these lectures.
