DLC SUPVA VC Dr. Amit Arya meets Former Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur
Dr. Amit Arya, Vice-Chancellor of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) met Anurag Singh Thakur, former Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, at his residence in New Delhi.
New Delhi, January 4, 2026: Dr. Amit Arya, Vice-Chancellor of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) met Anurag Singh Thakur, former Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, at his residence in New Delhi.
During the meeting, VC Dr. Arya apprised Former Minister Thakur about DLC SUPVA and the key academic, institutional, and creative initiatives undertaken to strengthen the university and elevate it to higher academic and professional standards. Drawing on his experience as a former advisor to the Ministry, Dr. Arya outlined the strategic direction being pursued to position DLC SUPVA as a leading centre for performing and visual arts education in the country.
VC Dr. Arya also shared details about the varsity’s unique creative and entrepreneurial programmes, along with the specialised, practice-oriented training being imparted to students across disciplines such as architecture, visual arts, film, design, and allied creative fields. He highlighted the university’s emphasis on nurturing culturally rooted, industry-ready professionals capable of contributing meaningfully to India’s creative economy. Dr. Arya also presented to him his portrait made by the department of Visual Arts, DLC SUPVA.
Impressed by the initiatives and achievements of DLC SUPVA, Former Minister Thakur appreciated the university’s stellar contribution in the field of performing and visual arts and its growing national profile. Dr. Arya formally invited him to visit the university campus, to which he consented promptly.
Speaking after the meeting, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said, “It was an enriching interaction with Anurag Singh Thakur. His deep understanding of media, culture, and youth engagement resonates strongly with the vision we are pursuing at DLC SUPVA. The encouragement and appreciation extended by him further strengthened our resolve to build the university as a centre of excellence in performing and visual arts.”
