Rohtak, October 17, 2025: The Vice-Chancellor of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Dr. Amit Arya, paid a floral tribute to Surya Kavi Pandit Lakhmi Chand on his death anniversary at the varsity premises today.

All senior officials, including Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Ajay Kaushik, Director (IT) Dr. Seema, HOD Visual Arts Vinay Kumar, HOD Film/TV Mahesh T.P., and other faculty members and staff joined the ceremony to honour the legacy of the legendary poet-philosopher who elevated the Haryanvi cultural tradition through his timeless creations.

Pandit Lakhmi Chand, revered as the Surya Kavi of the Haryanvi Raagni and Saang tradition, occupies a singular place in the state’s folk and literary heritage. His iconic works such as Raja Harishchandra, Seth Tarachand, Heer Ranjha, Raja Gopichand, Meera Bai, and Bhagat Puranmal continue to inspire generations. His magnum opus, Lakhmichand Ka Brahmgyaan, remains one of the most celebrated compositions in Haryanvi literature, sung by artists across decades.

The university, renamed in his honour in 2019, stands as a living testament to his contributions to art, literature, and moral wisdom. Every year, the Haryana Kala Parishad confers the Pandit Lakhmi Chand Award upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Haryanvi literature and culture.

VC Dr. Amit Arya shared, “Pandit Lakhmi Chand’s life is an eternal lesson in creativity, humility, and devotion to one’s roots. His verses captured not only the rhythm of Haryana’s soil but also the moral fabric of humanity. As a university bearing his name, it is our sacred responsibility to carry forward his torch of wisdom and cultural pride.”

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha added, “Pandit Lakhmi Chand transformed folk expression into a vehicle of education and ethical reflection. His journey from a humble artist to a revered saint-poet continues to inspire every student to find truth and purpose through art.”

The VC Dr. Amit Arya also wished everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali. He distributed sweets among staff members of the university’s HKRN workforce, marking the day with warmth, remembrance, and gratitude.

Later, as a Diwali gift, students of Animation & Multimedia, led by Jagseer Singh, Assistant Professor, Visual Arts, presented a specially crafted portrait of the Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Amit Arya appreciated the creative effort and commended the students for expressing reverence through their art.
