DLC SUPVA launches ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ with Women’s Health & Empowerment Initiative
On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, launched its ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ celebrations with a special focus on women’s welfare and empowerment.
Rohtak, September 17, 2025: On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, the Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, launched its ‘Sewa Pakhwada’ celebrations with a special focus on women’s welfare and empowerment.
As part of the initiative, the Women’s Cell of varsity organized a health awareness lecture titled “Gynecological Health Awareness for Young Women”. The session was delivered by Dr. Sonika Maan and was attended by around 200 girl students.
Dr. Maan, drawing on her expertise, explained the importance of being vigilant about gynecological health during adolescence and young adulthood (ages 17–22). She cautioned students against neglecting symptoms and emphasized timely consultation with doctors. Her talk covered essential topics like menstrual health and hygiene practices, common gynecological concerns, importance of HPV vaccination, Pap smear screenings, and breast self-examinations for preventive care and Nutrition and lifestyle management.
Dr Maa also talked about myths and facts about contraception, safe sex practices, and the role of mental wellbeing in reproductive health. Encouraging open dialogue, she urged students to shed hesitation and take proactive steps towards their health, reminding them that empowerment begins with awareness and timely action. She said that young women must learn to be vigilant about their health and never take symptoms lightly. Gynecological issues are not matters to be hidden or ignored — timely consultation and preventive care can make all the difference.
Speaking at the event, Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha said that our young women must never hesitate to share their physical and mental health concerns with their parents or consult doctors when needed. Silence only aggravates problems, while awareness and early treatment ensure well-being and confidence, she added.
Dr. Sima, Head of the Women’s Cell and members - Dr. Shelly Khanna and Dr Renu were also present. The day was also marked by a plantation drive in line with the PM’s vision of “Clean India, Green India.” Around 50 trees were planted across the varsity campus, with active participation from Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, Head Visual Arts Vinay Kumar, Head Film & TV Mahesh TP, and Head Planning & Architecture Ar. Ajay Bahu Joshi, along with enthusiastic student volunteers.
