DES-MDRC Kicks Off New Session with Governance Summit Experience at ISB

The Department of Evening Studies–MDRC, Panjab University, began its academic session with a valuable experiential learning opportunity by participating in the Governance Summit 2025 held at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Bharti Institute of Public Policy. The summit, themed “Megatrends & Policy Shifts: Charting India’s Future,” provided insights into cutting-edge governance issues, policy reforms, and institutional transformation.

Chandigarh, July 18, 2025: The Department of Evening Studies–MDRC, Panjab University, began its academic session with a valuable experiential learning opportunity by participating in the Governance Summit 2025 held at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Bharti Institute of Public Policy. The summit, themed “Megatrends & Policy Shifts: Charting India’s Future,” provided insights into cutting-edge governance issues, policy reforms, and institutional transformation.
A delegation of over 30 members—including professors, research scholars, and students—was nominated by Prof. Neeraj Jain (Chairperson, DES). The team was led by Prof. Suman Makkar (Convener) and Dr. Harmandeep Kaur (Co-convener), with coordination by research scholar Aarushi Rajpal (Student Convener). Faculty members Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Dr. Nirmal Singh, Neelam, Gurjot Kaur, and Dr. Monica also joined the delegation.
Keynote sessions addressed critical intersections of technology, policy, markets, and culture, led by Prof. Ashwani Chhatre of ISB. The event featured the launch of the book “Lakhpati Kisan”, and engaging panel discussions on sustainability, digital governance, climate justice, and institutional reform.
Eminent speakers included Bharti Chaturvedi, Kanika Pal, Thakur Pherwani, Sanjeev Singh (IRS), Dr. Neeta Verma, Neerja Chowdhary, and senior government officials. Sessions highlighted inclusive governance models, data-driven decision-making, cyber security, and digital ethics.
The event concluded with a valedictory address by Surjeet Kumar, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and closing remarks by Dr. Aarushi Jain, Policy Director, ISB. The summit proved highly enriching for academic and professional growth, setting a dynamic tone for the department’s new academic year.
