Chandigarh, January 23, 2026: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today celebrated National Voters’ Day at the department.
National Voters’ Day is observed annually on January 25 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India. Faculty members, research scholars, and students of BLIS and MLIS programmes participated in the event.
A detailed presentation highlighting various aspects of National Voters’ Day was delivered by Rasbhajan Singh, focusing on voter awareness, electoral participation, and democratic responsibilities.
The programme aimed to sensitise students about the electoral process,
stressing the importance of voter registration, informed voting, and the critical role of youth in strengthening democracy.
Following the presentation, Dr. Khushpreet Singh Brar, Chairperson of the Department, shared his views and interacted with students. The session concluded with the administration of the Voters’ Pledge.
The programme witnessed active participation and successfully enhanced awareness among students regarding their role in shaping the democratic framework.
