Rohtak, February 5, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta today chaired the monthly review meeting of the Women and Child Development Department, directing officials to link the maximum number of pregnant women and lactating mothers with Anganwadi Centres and ensure balanced nutrition for every registered child.

The DC said the district has 1,004 Anganwadi Centers and stressed that all children up to six years of age attending these centers must receive nutritious meals. Reviewing nutrition initiatives, he noted that 381 centers have established Poshan Vatikas (nutrition gardens) and called for further strengthening of nutrition-related activities and hygiene awareness among women.

He also directed focused care for Severely and Moderately Acute Malnourished (SAM/MAM) children under the Poshan programme so that recovery is ensured at the earliest.

The functioning of the One Stop Centre, child-care institutions and the Mahila Ashram was reviewed in detail. Emphasising counseling and rehabilitation, the DC said women and girls approaching the One Stop Centre should be provided timely support and, where required, short-stay facilities before being reunited with families or rehabilitated with consent.

Adoption procedures under the Central Adoption Resource Authority were also discussed. Progress of the ongoing 100-day child marriage prevention campaign was reviewed, under which awareness being carried out in educational institutions, religious places and at Panchayat level as part of the ‘Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat’ initiative. The DC informed that eight child marriages have already been prevented in the district. Implementation of the POCSO Act was also examined, with instructions for close coordination among all stakeholders.

Senior officers present included District Programme Officer Kumari Deepika Saini, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate Tanumay Dutta, WCDPOs and Supervisors, Protection and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Karminder Kaur, District Child Protection Officer Kuldeep Singh and Nutrition Coordinator Niharika.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening nutrition services, women’s safety and child protection, and directed departments to ensure time-bound, measurable progress before the next monthly review.
