Rohtak, January 27, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that the state government’s Mhara Gaon–Jagmag Gaon Scheme is playing a significant role in rural development and strengthening electricity supply in Haryana. He was presiding over a review meeting with power corporation officials at his camp office regarding the implementation of the scheme.
DC Sachin Gupta said that under the Mhara Gaon–Jagmag Gaon Scheme, the Haryana Government has taken an initiative to provide 24-hour electricity supply in rural areas with the objective of empowering villages. Under this scheme, 24-hour power supply is currently being provided in 126 villages of the district. He said that the scheme ensures timely payment of electricity bills and better basic facilities in villages, thereby contributing to overall rural development.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to expedite efforts to make all 172 villages of the district power circle “jagmag” (fully illuminated) under the scheme. During the meeting, details of 28 villages already declared jagmag were presented where line losses are high. Due to these losses, electricity supply in these villages is limited to 16 hours instead of 24 hours. The Deputy Commissioner instructed officials to curb power theft, reduce line losses and ensure round-the-clock electricity supply. He also directed that the remaining villages be brought under the scheme at the earliest. He appealed to district residents to pay their electricity bills on time so that the benefits of the scheme can reach every citizen.
Superintending Engineer of the Power Corporation, Bijender Narwal, informed in the meeting that under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, 5710 applications have been received in Rohtak Circle, out of which 3488 connections have already been commissioned by the corporation. He said that a target of issuing 6316 connections under the scheme has been set by March 31, 2026. By issuing 55.22 percent of the connections, Rohtak Circle has secured first position in the entire Rohtak Zone. Notably, the Rohtak Zone includes Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Karnal and Panipat districts.
Officials present in the meeting included XEN Seema Nara and Ramendra Malik, SDO Jogender Singh, Manish, Ram Prasad and others.
