Nawanshahr, December 10, 2021: Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday said that cVigil app is a landmark step in conducting the ensuing assembly elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
Presiding over a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the app was launched by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and used for the first time in 2019 general elections.
He said that this app was amongst the other novel ways to ensure the electoral participation of the techno savvy youth besides simplifying the poll related works and bringing its functioning in tune with the changing times.
He said that cVigil provides evidence-based proof of the Model Code of Conduct / Expenditure Violation, having live photo/video with auto location data.
Sarangal said that any citizen could lodge a complaint through App which was further investigated by Flying Squads and subsequent action would be taken by the Returning Officer.
The Deputy Commissioner said that as soon as the complaint was lodged action had to be initiated on it and it had to be resolved within 100 minutes.
He said that if the complainant does not want to get identified then his credentials had to be kept secret.
He said that this was a historic initiative of the Election Commission of India which was aimed at strengthening democracy at grass root level.
He said that every officer has to perform their duty zealously to ensure that this app proves to be a boon for the voters.
He asked the officers to make sure that the complaints received on the app were disposed of at the earliest to make it a huge success.
He said that a formal training for the poll staff regarding app would be held in the coming days.
On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioners Jasbir Singh, Amardeep Singh Bains, SDMs Viraj S Tidke, Dr Baljinder Singh Dhillon, Deepak Rohilla and others were present.
