CT University organises Mega Start-up Event ‘Big Fish Pool’

Ludhiana, August 29, 2022: CT University, Ludhiana, in its initiative to bring together young entrepreneurs from various fields, organised a mega national start-up event i.e. "THE BIG FISH POOL" on 27th August 2022. The event was powered by Startup Punjab and supported by FINDOC and Lifestyle Wellness Centre.

It was aimed to help the budding entrepreneurs pitch their start-up ideas in front of Angel Investors and Venture Capitalists, after which the investors will evaluate them and provide funding support to the young entrepreneurs. Top 50 startup teams from PAN India participated in the event and the event gained the support and recognition from the biggest stakeholders of the startup ecosystem where the associates from Startup India, Invest India, Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology,  MSME, Startup Punjab, Invest Punjab, MentorX, IISER Mohali, STPI Mohali, IM Punjab, DBEE-Govt. of Punjab, ASSOCHAM, LinkedinLocal, Black Eye Technologies, Punjab Angel Network, The Angel Network, GNE STEP, RCED, HBF Direct, PINS OUT, StartHub Nation, Startup Monk, PCC, AP Refineries, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Yes Bank, participated. 15 Investors provided the opportunity to the entrepreneurs of getting funding up to INR 6 Crores apart from the other handholding support from the stakeholders.

The event was officially inaugurated by the Hon'ble Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana  Surabhi Malik, IAS, Chancellor, CTU, Chanranjit Singh Channi, Pro-Chancellor, Dr Manbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Dr Satish Kumar and Guest of Honor, Deepindar Singh Dhillon, Jt. Director, Startup Punjab and Saurabh Jain, Ex VP Paytm, Founder Fun2Do Labs, Member NEAC on Innovation, Incubation, and Technology Entrepreneurship, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. 

Dr. Satish Kumar, Officiating Vice Chancellor, CT University said that Entrepreneurs aren’t born, they are made. Entrepreneurial ecosystems play an essential role in facilitating and fostering entrepreneurship. India's startup ecosystem has been the backbone of the Indian economy that has extensive support and contributions to boost India's economic condition. The Big Fish Pool is an attempt from CT University to help these young entrepreneurs get a platform whereby they can showcase their ideas before the investors and get funded.

Ati Priye, Director of Planning and Development added that to realize growth and innovation, the startup ecosystem must function well for entrepreneurs. Such an “entrepreneurial ecosystem” is an interactive network of actors who influence each other and the chances of survival of a venture creator and his company in a region or country. He said that CT University is committed to building up an ecosystem that can act as a catalyst in supporting the young entrepreneurs of the region.  

Furthermore, the leading and prominent schools of the region also participated whereby the Young Entrepreneurs exhibited their innovative ideas and products. The University also honored the Top 40 Rising Startups from Punjab.  The other partners of the event were 1000ThingsinLudhiana, India Accelerator- Mind plus,  Lawyered, and Mishutt Financials.
