CT Group’s Sneha Gharami shines in Canada: Creates 3 commonwealth records & bags 4 gold medals

Jalandhar, September 28, 2026: In a spectacular display of power, determination, and grit, Ms. Sneha Gharami brought immense pride to the nation and CT Group by clinching 4 Gold Medals and setting 3 New Commonwealth Records at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship 2026, held in Winnipeg, Canada from September 17 to 27.

Competing in the Junior 76 kg Weight Category, Sneha delivered a historic, clean-sweep performance across all events:

* Squat: 190 kg – Gold Medal  (New Commonwealth Record)
* Bench Press: 120 kg – Gold Medal  (New Commonwealth Record)
* Deadlift: 190 kg – Gold Medal  (New Commonwealth Record)
* Total: 500 kg – Overall Gold Medal

Sneha, a 2nd-year B.A. student from West Bengal, studies under CT Group’s 100% Sports Scholarship Scheme, which fully covers her boarding, lodging, diet, and tuition fees.

Hailing from a humble background in Howrah, West Bengal, Sneha’s journey is an inspiring story of sacrifice and perseverance. Her father, Uttam Gharami, works as a fruit vendor, while her mother, Smriti, is a homemaker who even pledged her jewelry to support Sneha’s training and gear purchases. Sneha’s prior track record includes three gold medals each at the Asian Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Kerala (2023) and Dehradun (2025), along with overall gold at national level championships.

“My parents made countless sacrifices for me despite financial constraints. I want to make my parents and country proud and improve our family’s living conditions,” shared Sneha after her record-breaking performance.
