Jalandhar, January 7, 2026: Marking the beginning of the New Year with a meaningful and responsible gesture, students of CT Group of Institutions launched a sustainability-driven initiative by upcycling unused examination answer sheets into eco-friendly notepads.

Instead of allowing unused papers to remain idle or go to waste, students creatively repurposed them into functional stationery, spreading a strong message of sustainability, innovation, and environmental consciousness. The initiative directly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by fostering environmental awareness and responsible citizenship, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by encouraging resource efficiency and waste reduction through upcycling, and SDG 13 (Climate Action) by minimizing environmental impact.

This thoughtful upcycling initiative not only reduced potential paper waste but also reinforced the idea that sustainability is a continuous practice rather than a one-time effort. By beginning the New Year with this green activity, CT Group students highlighted how small, conscious actions can collectively lead to long-term environmental benefits.

Upcycling helps conserve natural resources, reduces the pressure on landfills, saves energy, and lowers pollution levels. Through this initiative, students inspired society—especially the youth—to adopt responsible habits and integrate eco-friendly choices into their everyday lives.

Appreciating the initiative, Managing Director, CT Group, Dr. Manbir Singh, said: “This initiative truly reflects the core values of CT Group—innovation, responsibility, and sustainability. I am proud of our students for starting the New Year with such a purposeful activity. Upcycling unused answer sheets into notepads sends a powerful message that education extends beyond classrooms and examinations; it shapes environmentally conscious and socially responsible citizens.”

Executive Director, CT Group, Dr. Nitin Tandon, also applauded the students’ efforts and remarked: “Our students have demonstrated that meaningful change begins with awareness followed by action. This upcycling initiative not only promotes environmental protection but also encourages creative thinking in sustainable resource management. Such initiatives strengthen our commitment to experiential learning and sustainable development.”

The New Year upcycling drive stands as a reminder that every individual can contribute to environmental preservation. CT Group of Institutions continues to encourage student-led initiatives that integrate sustainability, the SDGs, innovation, and community engagement, reaffirming its commitment to building a greener and more sustainable future.
