Jalandhar, February 4, 2026: To commemorate World Cancer Day and support the global health goals established by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the CT College of Pharmacy (CTCP) and the CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CTIPS) jointly organized a comprehensive day of education and advocacy. The event brought together medical experts, academic leadership, faculty, and students to raise awareness regarding the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer.

The event featured a series of expert sessions designed to deepen the students' understanding of oncology. In a session organised by the CT College of Pharmacy, Dr Vibha Chitkara, a distinguished medical professional from NHS Hospital holding an MBBS, D.Acu, and PGDIM qualification, delivered a keynote address on the critical subject of Cervical Cancer. Dr. Chitkara provided the audience with a detailed analysis of the current data surrounding the disease, explained the primary reasons behind its prevalence, and emphasised the necessity of early screening and vaccination.

Running concurrently with this session, the CT Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences hosted Dr. Maithili Sharma, a Consultant in Radiation Oncology at the American Oncology Institute at Fortis Hospital, Jalandhar. Dr. Sharma addressed the broader themes of World Cancer Day, discussing advancements in radiation therapy and the vital role of medical professionals in supporting the World Cancer Declaration.

Beyond the lecture halls, the campus came alive with student-led initiatives aimed at spreading the message to the wider community. With the support of the faculty members, the students organized an awareness rally to publicly advocate for health vigilance, which was accompanied by creative poster presentations and speeches. Embracing modern digital platforms to reach a younger demographic, the students also produced social media reels to amplify the message of cancer prevention and early detection.

The program was graced by the distinguished presence of Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, Principal of CTCP, alongside Dr. Sanjana Piplani, Vice Principal, and Dr. Shruti Mehta, Head of Department. Adding to the significance of the occasion, Dr. Daisy Sharma, Vice Principal of CTIPS, also joined the proceedings to encourage the attendees.
