Conclusion of year-long celebrations of 200th Birth-Anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati in Department of Sanskrit

Chandigarh, March 12, 2024: During the year-long celebrations of 200th Birth-Anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, a series of 12 special lectures, 3 workshops, 2 national seminars and one Inter-University Declamation contest were held.  Prof. Sudhir Arya, Dr. Pushpinder Joshi, Dr. Vikram, Prof. J. P. Semwal, Dr. Satyan Sharma, Acharya Hari Shankar Agnihotri, Prof. V. K. Alankar, Dr. Bhardwaj, Prof. Lakhvir Singh and Dr. Manish Sharma acted as resource person for the series of lectures organised. Workshop on “Vaidik Agnihotra: Vidhi Tatha Mahatta”, “Sasvar-Mantrapath Vidhi” and “Vaidik-Svar-Paribodh” were conducted. National seminar on “Bharatiya Gyanparampara Ki Samriddhi Mein Dayanand Saraswati Ka Avadan” was held on 29th and 30th January, and “Dayanand Chintan Mein Manurbhava” held on 4th March.
 
In this lecture series,concluding lecture was given by Prof. Jagdish Prasad Semwal, the winner of President’s award. Prof. Semwal spoke about Vedas and Vedic culture and told that “Swami Dayanand Saraswati encouraged all humans to study Vedas.”  He added that Vedas are not limited to a certain group of people, they are for all. He also presented a detailed exposition on the Gayatri mantra and encouraged the students to converse in Sanskrit.
 
 
 
Prof. V. K. Alankar gave a vote of thanks to Prof. Semwal as well as the audience andsaid that Prof. Semwal is a scholar of various fields of Sanskrit. He added“we are fortunate that Prof. Semwal is here among us to guide us all.” Prof. Alankar also congratulated and thanked the teaching and non-teaching staff of the department for their cooperating in successfully organizing the year-long events.
