GHSC-10 Celebrates Van Mahotsav with Tree Plantation Drive

Chandigarh, July 6, 2025: Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Forests and Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration, organized a Tree Plantation Drive on the occasion of Van Mahotsav on July 5. The event was part of the city-wide greening initiative aimed at planting over one lakh saplings across 253 identified sites in Chandigarh, under the esteemed guidance of Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria.

The plantation drive at the college was led by the Principal, Prof. Sudha Katyal, who emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. A variety of indigenous saplings were planted within the college premises, aligning with the ecological objectives of the campaign.

The college expresses sincere gratitude to the Department of Forests and Wildlife, Chandigarh Administration, for selecting the institution as an official plantation site (Serial No. 230, as per the notification), and to the Hon’ble Governor for promoting active youth participation in this noble cause.

Prof. Sudha Katyal commended the commendable efforts of the Environment Club ‘Harita’, NSS Wing, and NCC Unit of the college for successfully organizing the event and fostering environmental consciousness among students.
