Col Shailesh Pathak takes over IGBC Chandigarh Chapter as Chairman, Jagjit Singh Majha as Co-Chairman

Chandigarh, July 20, 2022: Col Shailesh Pathak(Retired) has taken over as the new chairman of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Chandigarh Chapter and Jagjit Singh Majha, president of CREDAI Punjab, as the Co-Chairman. The Executive Board members of CII and IGBC formally selected the Chairman and Co-Chairman of IGBC Chandigarh Chapter in a meeting. It is to be noted that Col Pathak was earlier the Co-Chairman of IGBC, Chandigarh Chapter.

“Green buildings are the need of the hour in view of our commitment to cut greenhouse gas emissions by one billion ton by 2030. In order to save the environment from further degradation, we have to ensure maximum use of renewable energy like solar to reduce our dependence on thermal or nuclear power,” said Col Pathak(Retired), also CEO of Art-N-Glass Inc, a leading glass processing company, and partner with Green Fenestration Technologies (GFT), a high technology doors and windows manufacturing company.

“In view of the worsening climate crisis, we cannot ignore the need to preserve the environment any longer. We have to act now and quite seriously. The goal of zero emissions by 2030 is non-negotiable if we want our coming generations to live a peaceful and happy life,” said Majha, also the CMD of PCL Housing. 

Col Pathak, a science graduate from the Delhi University, is also an adventure enthusiast and motivational speaker. He is the past Chairman of CII Himachal Pradesh State Council. On the other hand, Majha, is an ardent nature lover and is working for the welfare of Mother Nature as the Director General of Guardians of Nature Federation. He is currently working on the New Master Plan of Punjab’s New Chandigarh where he is developing a mega integrated township.

It is worth mentioning that the IGBC, formed by CII in 2001, is spearheading the green building movement in the country. Today, India occupies the 2nd slot in the world in terms of green footprint. As on date, there are 7,550 projects, equivalent to 8.18 billion square feet, which have adopted various IGBC green and net zero building ratings. IGBC is also a founding member of the World Green Building Council.
