CME on Master Class in Ophthalmology held
Ludhiana, April 28, 2019: Department of Ophthalmology, DMCH in association with Ludhiana Ophthalmology Society organized CME on “Master Class in Ophthalmology” today at DMCH. The purpose of organizing the CME was to update the knowledge and expertise of participating delegates in Retinal disease and Glaucoma Management techniques. The CME was formally inaugurated by Secretary of DMCH Managing Society, Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, who lauded the efforts of organizing members on conducting the conference and said that Department of Ophthalmology (Eye) at DMCH is well equipped with state- of –the-art facilities and equipments to treat the eye patients . Eminent speakers during the CME were Dr Lingam Gopal and Dr Lingam Vijaya from Sankara Nethralaya Chennai who shared their knowledge and delivered talks on latest advancement on Retinal Surgeries and Glaucoma Surgries. Organizing Secretary Dr Sumeet Chopra (Professor & Head of Department of Ophthalmology DMCH) said that this CME will be an opportunity for the young ophthalmologist to interact with the distinguished doctors of the country. Other eminent doctors present included were- Dr Sukhjiwan Kakkar, President Ludhiana Ophthalmology Society and Dr B S Rana, Secretary Ludhiana Ophthalmology Society. Dr Lingam Gopal is the pioneer in the field of Retina which is the back part of the eye and it is damaged in conditions like Diabetes and Retinopathy and Prematurity. DMCH has recently acquired the RETCAM Shuttle equipment which helps in capturing the images of the new born baby’s retina. DMCH is the only institute in Punjab having this facility. The CME included the lectures, personal interaction and case based discussion to make it more interactive. The CME was attended by more than 150 delegates.
