CM to visit Kangra on 4 days tour from August 6: Rakesh Pathania

Dharamshala:  Forest, Youth Services and Sports Minister Rakesh Pathania said that CM Jai Ram Thakur is visiting Kangra district from 6 th August to 9th august and will inaugurate many development projects. Pathania informed that CM will also attend the state BJP party meet at Dehra during the visit.

He said that the National Sports University will be set up in Kangra district with the support of the Central Government. He informed that he had already discussed the matter with Kiren Rijiju Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and MOS finance Anuraag Thakur in this regard and a detailed proposal for the establishment of Sports University is being prepared. He said that with the establishment of the university, young players of the district and the state will get better opportunities of  training  and to show their talent. He said that Himachal will come out with a new sports policy very soon.

Rakesh Pathania was addressing the press conference in Dharamshala on Tuesday. Pathania said that from the point of view of development, the Kangra district is in the forefront of the state and the present government is providing all possible support for its  development.

He said, “ Himachal Pradesh has made its special identity as a fruit state in India and abroad. Lakhs of people of the state are getting direct and indirect employment in this area. Efforts are being made to bring  ‘SADABHAAR’ a new evergreen hybrid variety of mango to the state with the cooperation of Maharashtra , Rajasthan and the government of  Israel with which the planters of this state will get mango fruit production twice in a year. A huge investment is being made by the state government in this ambitious project.”

He said that a provision of Rs 40 crore has been made for the district under the Horticulture Mission.  Apart from mangoes, hybrid varieties  of litchi, kinnow, orange and guava are also being brought from Italy and Israel to  help in doubling the income of the horticulturists of the district.

The forest Minister said that 66 percent of the area in Himachal comes under forests and forests are valuable for us, through which maximum revenue can be increased. For this, planning will be done on a large scale. He said , “ Khair and Pine  trees are the  great source of income in the forests which can be converted as a cash crop. Under this plan , all employment opportunities will be created for unemployed youth at their door steps.”
