Chandigarh, August 23, 2025: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today strongly condemned Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann for spreading falsehoods regarding the cancellation of ration cards in Punjab.

Chugh said the AAP government in Punjab had lost its nerves in the face of the phenomenal success of PM Modi's initiatives for farmers and the other sections of the society.

Chugh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government has ensured free ration for 80 crore Indians through the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana, Punjab alone has received Rs. 661.26 crore till October 2024.

“It was the Punjab's Mann Government itself which submitted the names of 8,02,493 ration cards to be cancelled. The Centre never made this list, it only set the rules as per NFSA provisions. The responsibility of identifying eligible beneficiaries lies with the state government under Sections 10 and 24 of the Act,” Chugh said.

He added that despite being in power for four years, the Bhagwant Mann government has failed to complete the e-KYC process. When BJP organised camps to help poor families update their details, the AAP government forcibly and undemocratically shut them down and even detained BJP leaders across Punjab.

Chugh said, “It is the exasperation of CM Mann after PM Modi gave Punjab a Semiconductor Plant in Mohali, Rs. 530 crore for development of border areas, and opened the treasury for Punjab. In contrast, Mann has only given Punjab financial mismanagement, law-and-order collapse, mafia raj, and puppet rule under Kejriwal and Sisodia.”

“Is this another step of Kejriwal-Sisodia’s ‘Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed’ politics?” Chugh asked.
