CICU organised workshop on latest powder coating technologies

Ludhiana, April 4, 2015: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana on Saturday organised a Workshop on “Latest Powder Coating Technologies”.  The workshop was attended by more than 50 Industrialists, Senior Staff and Representatives of Trade & Industry from different parts of Northern India.

Avtar Singh, President of the Chamber mentioned in his welcome address that the Chamber’s endeavor is to make Ludhiana Industries a World Class in terms of Quality, Productivity & Cost. He narrated that to attain this CICU has been regularly conducting many such workshops, seminars, conferences and exhibitions etc for the up-gradation of productivity, quality, environment and reduction in cost for the benefit of trade and industry of Punjab.

He said that this program will enlighten the participants regarding optimisation and utilisation of resources, which are necessary for achieving national and international quality standards for export and domestic markets.

The interesting and thought provoking sessions were conducted by Meghan M Manjarekar who is Certified Lead Auditor, Protective Coating Expert having more than 33 years experience. He is a senior consultant and faculty with National Institute of Coating Technology, Associate Technical Editor for the Journal on Coating Applications (The Coating Bhaskar) and Member of Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC) USA.

The training sessions included basics of powder coating technologies, chemistry of powder coating, pre treatments required, better output in terms of finish quality, application techniques for higher production speed with better efficiency, equipment care, how to reduce rejection rates, defects and improve quality, latest innovation in powder coating technologies, testing techniques for raw materials and finished products as well as environmental problems and solutions relating to the powder coating applications. The last session was related to detailed discussions, question & answer session along with feedback by the participants.

Inderjit Nagpal, Patron CICU, who is a successful industrialist in the Paint industry shared his experiences with the participants. He gave the practical advice on various difficulties/problems faced by the participants to solve these efficiently maintaining competitive costs. He also shared new products with better quality, life and cost effectiveness like Fusion Bonding Epoxy Powder, PUDF powder, Low Bake powder and Fast Cure Baking powder, which are fast to use at low temperature with better results.

He also thanked the participants for understating and discussing their difficulties and problems with the learned faculty. He further advised the participants to apply this knowledge in their respective units.
