Chinese Master Fashion Show at Chitkara University

Chandigarh, February 28, 2016: This year is being celebrated as China- India Tourism Year and in continuation to it China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) today jointly organized an event with Chitkara University which was Chinese Master Fashion Show. Around 20 teams from various colleges and Universities participated and around 250 students showed their talents in which Chinese cloths and fabric, fashion trend, culture were depicted.
Mr. Li Yaying, Deputy Director General, Marketing and International Cooperation Department of CNTA was present on this occasion and said that this event aims at building ties of cultural exchange and promoting emotional communication between the two country’s people. It also promotes mutual goodwill and developing partnership, trade and tourism. China has already celebrated India Tourism Year in 2015. Mr.Li Yaying said that in China there are around 2800 Universities and more than 3 Crore students are studying. He said that in 2015 from India around seven and half Lakh tourist visited China and is increasing at 3 percentages per year and can be taken further. He briefed about various tourist spots in China and welcomes all to explore the places.
Dr. Ashok Chitkara, Chancellor of the University said in his inaugural speech that both the countries have similarities in many aspects and language, food and attire are the things which connect people strongly. He delivered his speech in Chinese language and he disclosed that he has earned 3 levels of Chinese language after rigorous study and practice. Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Vice Chancellor expressed that the initiative taken by both countries will result into better ties and understanding and by visitors increased flow the economy will also boost.
This was the first show which was jointly hosted by CNTA and Chitkara University in India and it’s theme centered on Silk Road. The Chinese Master Fashion Competition looks to familiarize the youth about the rich cultural heritage of China and also to boost tourism with high intensity of mobility & exchange so that citizen may travel to both nations more frequently and visit beautiful tourist spots.
This concept of celebrating tourism year in both the countries was the outcome of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi & Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting in 2014 so that both neighbours must come closer to each other and bond can be increased. CNTA has come up with several tourism promotion and exchange programme.
The fashion show competition was a great attraction to the audience and teams were named as Mu- Jin, Bamboo, Narcissus, Orchid, Peony, Blossom, Lily, Osmanthus and were much appreciated by audience. Quiz for the audience was also organized and lucky draw were taken and a lot of huge prizes were given away. The winning teams were given away with huge prizes by CNTA.
The show started with lighting of the lamp ceremony and national anthem of both countries was played. The students from Chitkara University also show cased their talents with folk song, film song and classical dance.
