Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster institutions formed CRIKC society

Chandigarh June 18, 2016: In order to promote the research & training activities related to higher education and to facilitate mutual sharing of available academic resources, the Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) institutions have formed the CRIKC society.
Panjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover would be the President of the CRIKC Society.
The decision was taken at the General Body Meeting of the CRIKC Members at PU here today. Director PEC Dr. Manoj Arora was elected as the Vice President of the society.
The society would work for the promotion of collaborative academic events; promotion of Inter-Institutional ‘Fellowships’ amongst the CRIKC institutions; promotion of scientific temper amongst students, researchers and the society at large and furtherance of academic & scientific goals of CRIKC institutions. The society would work to interface with governments for promotion of research and higher education. It would work on promoting & sustaining various scientific Technologies; Theoretical Studies and Policy Research/Planning for excellence in research and gradually strive to expand to other areas.
Earlier, the meeting started with the discussion about the formation of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) Society. PU VC Prof. Grover mentioned about the evolution of institutions at the Chandigarh region and elaborated about the need of CRIKC society, its objectives and steps to sustain and flourish. He encouraged the academia as well as industry professionals to be a member of CRIKC Society.
Mr. Vikas Ahuja from Infosys, Mr. Sofi Zahoor from Quarkxress and Mr. Sameer Jain from Net Solutions, Prof. Rupinder Tewari and Prof. Rajesh Kochhar shared their views on Industry-Academia platform.
Earlier, Prof. M. M. Gupta presented an amended Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations before the august house for discussion. The Rules and Regulations were intensively deliberated by the members. The suggestion of Dr. Manjit Singh, Director TBRL and Prof. Rajesh Kochhar, Department of Mathematics to change the nomenclature of office bearers was adopted.
