Fazilka, July 28, 2013: An eye donation campaign started by the local NGO – Social Welfare Society – added to its list 213th donor Chaman Lal Dhooria residentof Basti Hazoor Singh.
Giving this information, Raj Kishor Kalra President and Suren Lal Kataria, Project In-charge informed that today Chaman Lal Dhooria complete his life term on this planet earth and his sons Bharat Bhushan, Subshan Chander, Sunil Kumar with motivation of Dr. Lal Chand contacted Ravi Juneja, Co-Project In-harge and Babu Lal Arora, Retired Office for donation of eyes of their father, to the eye bank, as per the last wish.
Accordingly, on the request of the society, handed over the eyes safely, with the help of Vijay Kumar and Sandeep Aneja to Shah Satnam Jee Green Welfare Force, Malout Branch and later prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Kalra said, “As of today, the society has so far collected the eyes after death of 213 persons and have successfully transplanted to 426 persons to give the colourful light of the world”.
He further said, “The society should come forward to donate eyes after death for transplantation to the needy persons. This is a magnanimous gesture which is of great benefit to the society as atleast the corneal blinds can be benefited in the society while the other portions of the eye are also used for research and training purposes to develop cures for some of the common eye diseases”.
