As part of the 6th National Social Work Week (NSWW), the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh is organising a series of community outreach activities from 15 to 21 August 2025. It is being organised in collaboration with the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI).

Chandigarh, 18 August 2025: As part of the 6th National Social Work Week (NSWW), the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh is organising a series of community outreach activities from 15 to 21 August 2025. It is being organised in collaboration with the National Association of Professional Social Workers in India (NAPSWI).

Prof. Sanjai Bhatt, President, NAPSWI informed that the theme for this year’s observance is “Social Work in Health Setting: Bridging Care and Compassion”. Throughout the week, institutions offering Social Work education will be encouraged to host academic, research, and community engagement initiatives aimed at strengthening professional commitment and social responsibility.

As part of the outreach activities, dry ration kits were distributed to migrant worker families. This initiative was carried out by Research Scholar Shishpal and Final-year MSW Student Navdeep Sharma, under the guidance of Dr Gaurav Gaur, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the 6th NSWW.

Highlighting the purpose of the National Social Work Week, Dr Gaurav Gaur stated that NSWW, initiated by NAPSWI, seeks to foster pride in the social work profession, showcase its achievements in India, and inspire rededication to societal causes. It will serve as a platform to facilitate mutual learning, professional collaboration, and critical reflection on both the opportunities and challenges faced by the profession.
