Centre For Police Administration Organised Special Lecture On Concept Of Crime And Its Criminological Classification
The Centre for Police Administration, University Institute of Emerging Areas in Social Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on the topic “Revisiting the Concept of Crime: A Criminological Classification Approach” at the Seminar Hall of the Centre.
Chandigarh, May 4, 2026: The Centre for Police Administration, University Institute of Emerging Areas in Social Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised a special lecture on the topic “Revisiting the Concept of Crime: A Criminological Classification Approach” at the Seminar Hall of the Centre.
The lecture was delivered by Pushpendra Kumar, IGP, Chandigarh Police, who shared valuable insights on the evolving perspectives of crime, its conceptual understanding, and modern classification paradigms in criminology. He emphasised the need for adaptive policing strategies and stronger academic–police collaboration to effectively address contemporary crime challenges.
Earlier, Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairman, Police Administration, UIEASSPU, Chandigarh, introduced the theme of the lecture and highlighted its academic and practical relevance for students and professionals in the field of police administration.
The session was also graced by the presence of Commandant Vijay (CRPF) and Commandant Narinder Singh (CRPF), adding further significance to the programme.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, research scholars, and students. It provided a meaningful platform for academic engagement and discussion on criminological theories and their practical implications in modern policing.
The organising team included Prof. Anil Monga, Dr. Shaveta Begra, Dr. Satnam Singh, Dr. Daljit Kaur, and Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, along with office staff members, research scholars, and students who contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.
The lecture concluded with an interactive session, where participants actively engaged with the speaker and gained deeper insights into contemporary issues in crime and policing.
