BSNL Employees staged massive demonstration

Ludhiana, July 30, 2013: Activists of BSNL Employees Union and National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees Ludhiana staged a massive demonstration infront of the GMT Office BSNL here.

The nationwide call for demonstration was given by the United Forum of Unions, demanding immediate settlement of long-pending staff issues.

Addressing the gathering, Balbir Singh, Circle Secretary BSNLEU, Punjab said the management of BSNL is deliberately denying their justified demands. The worse effected cadre is regular Mazdoor (workers) of BSNL. All most all the regular Mazdoor have reached on stagnation and their increments have stopped hence causing heavy monetary losses. The wages of the staff recruited after 01-01-2007 have been reduced at the time of wage revision from 01-01-2007.The Management is curtailing the various facilities extended to the staff one by one. Leave travel concession has been freezed, facility of fix medical allowance has been withdrawn. He demanded immediate restoration of LTC and medical facility all the demands contained in the demand charter.   

Balwinder Singh added they will intensify the struggle if the demands are not accepted. He said they would organise three day dharna from August 21-23, and one strike on September 4.       

In their address, S. P. Singh, Circle Secretary and Pritam Chand District Secetary, National Federation of Telecom BSNL Employees said that while the Employees of BSNL are working hard for the revival of BSNL, the management is discouraging the employees by curtailing the facilities. They further said that the Forum unions and Associations working in BSNL are organising a national convention in New Delhi in which top leaders of national unions and MPs will give their valuable suggestion for the revival of BSNL.
