Rohtak/Gohana, August 18, 2026: Teachers and employees of Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya (BPSMV), Khanpur, on Tuesday launched an indefinite agitation at the university’s main gate, demanding immediate payment of pending salaries and a permanent mechanism for regular and timely salary disbursement.
The protest has been launched jointly by the Teachers’ Association and the University Employees’ Struggle Committee. The protesters demanded that the state government release an annual salary budget for the university to ensure that employees receive their salaries on time and that such a crisis does not recur.
Prof. Ashok, Prof. Sanket Vij, Prof. Shweta, Prof. Sandeep, Prof. Suman, Dr. Seema, Dr. Pankaj and Dr. Ashish, along with office-bearers and members of the Teachers’ Association and a large number of employees, participated in the protest. The agitation also received support from regular and non-teaching employees, contractual and HKRN staff, as well as students.
The employees said the university, established nearly two decades ago with the objective of empowering women through education, continues to face a serious financial crisis. They alleged that salaries have remained pending for several months, causing financial hardship to employees and adversely affecting the university’s development and maintenance activities.
The protesters alleged that the administration had failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the repeated delays in salary payments. They said that despite submitting representations and holding meetings with the Vice-Chancellor, no permanent solution had been found. They also alleged that shortage of grants was repeatedly cited as a reason, but no concrete mechanism had been put in place for regular salary payments and clearance of outstanding dues.
As part of the agitation, teachers announced that they would immediately withdraw from their additional responsibilities. They said they were left with no option but to continue the peaceful agitation and seek legal remedy if the issue remained unresolved.
The Teachers’ Association urged the state government to intervene immediately, release the university’s pending grants and provide for an annual salary budget. The employees maintained that the indefinite agitation would continue until pending salaries are cleared, salary payments are regularised and a permanent solution to the financial crisis is put in place.
