Bihar Worker’s Organ Donation Gives Four Patients New Hope
A 40-year-old migrant worker from Bihar, declared brain-dead at PGIMS Rohtak following a road accident, has given four patients a chance at life through organ donation.

Rohtak, September 17, 2026: A 40-year-old migrant worker from Bihar, declared brain-dead at PGIMS Rohtak following a road accident, has given four patients a chance at life through organ donation.
The man, was critically injured after being hit by a motorcycle in Rohtak on September 12. He was admitted to the Trauma ICU, where doctors led by ICU in-charge Dr Tarun treated him. However, due to severe head injuries, he was declared brain-dead on September 17.
Despite the loss, his family consented to organ donation. With coordination among NOTTO, ROTTO North and SOTTO Haryana, one kidney was allocated to PGIMS Rohtak, the other to Army Hospital Chandimandir, while the liver and heart were sent to hospitals in Delhi.
Vice-Chancellor Dr H.K. Aggarwal said the family had taken the decision at a difficult time and helped four patients receive a new chance at life. He urged people to consider organ donation and recognise its potential to save lives.
A green corridor was created from Rohtak to Delhi from 3 pm to 10 pm for the transportation of the organs. Around 300 police personnel from Rohtak, Jhajjar, Bahadurgarh and Delhi coordinated the route. An Army Hospital Chandimandir helicopter was also flown to Baba Mastnath helipad at Asthal Bohar.
Registrar Dr Roop Singh said the university would ensure that the donor’s body was transported to his native village with due respect. Director Dr S.K. Singhal and Medical Superintendent Dr Kundan Mittal appreciated the medical teams, police personnel and Army Hospital Chandimandir for their coordination. They particularly acknowledged the donor family for consenting to organ donation despite their loss.
