Patna, Jan 19 (IANS) Protests over the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna continue to intensify, with student organisations taking to the streets demanding justice, even as the Bihar Police Headquarters has indicated that it will take more time to reach a definitive conclusion.

Addressing a press conference at the Bihar Police Headquarters on Monday, ADG Paras Nath of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) said the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report is likely to take another five to six days, and only after receiving all scientific reports will the full picture of the case emerge.

“Until the entire investigation process is completed, the official report cannot be shared. The DNA analysis, in particular, is a complex scientific procedure and therefore takes time,” the ADG said.

He said that considering the seriousness of the case, special teams from the CID and FSL visited the crime scene and collected crucial scientific evidence.

Although he did not disclose the exact date of the visit, Parasnath confirmed that several important samples were secured. He added that he personally visited the site to understand the finer details of the investigation.

The ADG further said that the CID’s Vulnerable Sections Wing is conducting a thorough probe into the matter to ensure no aspect is overlooked.

Meanwhile, protesting the slow pace of the investigation, activists of the All India Students’ Federation (AISF) staged a strong demonstration in Patna.

Raising slogans against the state government and the police administration, the students demanded a speedy trial and immediate arrest of those responsible.

Protesters alleged that the lack of a concrete conclusion in such a sensitive case raises serious questions about the functioning of the administration.

It may be recalled that the NEET aspirant, a resident of Jehanabad, died under suspicious circumstances while staying at a girls’ hostel in Patna.

The family has alleged murder and sexual assault, after which the case assumed political significance.

The police are currently investigating both suicide and homicide angles, and viscera and other biological samples have been sent for forensic examination.

Concluding his remarks, ADG Parasnath said that while certain forms of evidence may deteriorate over time, scientific investigation offers alternative methods to uncover the truth.

“Our primary focus is to gather solid evidence that can stand scrutiny in court,” he said, adding that the forthcoming FSL report will play a decisive role in determining the direction of the case.
