Bathinda MP launches scheme for releasing  tubeweel connection to needy farmers

Bathinda, February 19, 2014: Fulfilling the long pending demand of marginal and small farmers, Bathinda Member Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal released more than 7200 power connections to farmers having less than five acres of land from 126 villages of Bathinda district.
Speaking to media persons after distributing Demand Notices to the  beneficiary farmers  at Deon village today, Harsimrat  said that it was SAD-BJP Government that had been clearing the pendency of tube well connections to the farmers whereas previous Congress Government never bothered to release even single connection on merit rather they used to sell the same to chosen ones.
She said that Punjab Government was committed for the overall welfare of small and marginal farmers in the state and decided to release tube well connections to all pre 2007 applicants at the earliest.  Besides all other applicants registered afresh will be allotted tube well connections during the next six months as the state has become power surplus by with the commissioning of new power plants.
She  said that the SAD-BJP government was the only state government in the country spending Rs.6000 crore annually to provide free electricity to the Punjab's farmers and  this facility would continue to provide relief to the farming community.  She said that the state government has taken path breaking initiatives to ensure  the
well being of every strata of the society.
Holding the Congress led UPA  government at center guilty of ruining the farmers of the state,   She alleged that the Union government has always adopted anti-farmer stance resulting the worst economic conditions of the farmers in the state. Due to the exorbitant hike in agriculture inputs coupled with the non remunerative MSP, the peasantry of the state was on the verge of economic disaster, she added.
Harsimrat appealed the people to show the door to Congress in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections for its anti-people policies.
She said Narendra Modi could only run the country to fulfill the aspirations of the people and therefore NDA should be voted to power to ensure overall development of Punjab.
She also addressed Public meetings at Sangat Mandi, Deon, Goniana and Poohla villages.
