Awareness Program on World Bipolar Day
On the occasion of World Bipolar Day, 66 physiotherapy students actively participated in a special awareness program held at the Institute of Mental Health of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, contributing to the effort to raise awareness regarding bipolar disorder.
Rohtak, March 30, 2026: On the occasion of World Bipolar Day, 66 physiotherapy students actively participated in a special awareness program held at the Institute of Mental Health of Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, contributing to the effort to raise awareness regarding bipolar disorder.
Dr. Preeti Singh, Senior Professor in the Department of Psychiatry explained that bipolar disorder is a serious yet treatable mental health condition characterized by extreme fluctuations in an individual's mood, energy levels, and behavior. With timely identification and appropriate treatment, the condition can be effectively managed.
Dr. Purushottam emphasized that understanding the symptoms of bipolar disorder and initiating treatment during its early stages is crucial. He appealed to the public not to ignore mental health issues.
Dr. Bhupendra Singh, Professor of Psychiatric Social Work, underscored the importance of community awareness and the role of the family, saying that social support and rehabilitation services are vital for the management of bipolar disorder. Highlighting the biological aspects of the condition, Assistant Professor Dr. Avisha explained that bipolar disorder is linked to chemical imbalances and neurobiological changes within the brain, which result in abnormal mood fluctuations.
