Ar Sanjay Goel writes to Punjab CM on World Architecture Day regarding Role of Architects in Punjab

Ludhiana, October 2, 2022: Ludhiana Smart City Ltd Director and IIA Punjab Chapter Chairman Ar Sanjay Goel has sent a communication to Punjab chief minister on World Architecture Day regarding Role of Architects in Punjab. 

The communication reads as under: “This is to bring to your kind notice that Architects role is most important in the State of Punjab and without architects - planners a state (cities, towns villages and total built environment) cannot be properly planned and executed.

Past Governments could not take proper designing work neither from Private architects nor from Govt architects.  There must be dedicated department/ministry for architects as right now architects work is divided into PWD B&R, Local Govt, PUDA and few more ministries/departments.

World Architecture Day is Celebrated on first Monday of October every year and tomorrow on 3rd October it will be celebrated all over Punjab by private architects and there is no contribution from state government. 

Architects from Indian Institute of Architects Punjab Chapter (IIAP) request you to kindly involve architects from different cities in their respective cities for designing and development works, so that we can compete with other developed states. 

Chandigarh is one of the best example/city created by an architect- Le Corbusier and same can be done for Punjab cities too.

Majority of Cities, towns, airports, railway stations, bus stands, localities (residential and commercial) are not upto the mark in the state and high-level committees at state level and city level must be formed involving architects/planners for creating best possible infrastructure all over.”

Hope architects shall get better chance to serve Punjab, so as to make it one of the best states in coming years, he concluded.
