“She wears her heart on her sleeve and that’s what makes her relatable”: Anjali Sivaraman shares insights about her character Joanna in Amazon MX Player’s Gamerlog

Mumbai- India, 1 July 2025: Ever since its premiere, Amazon MX Player’s latest series, Gamerlog, has been winning hearts for its dynamic take on the esports boom in India, blending youthful ambition with real-world emotional stakes. This coming-of-age sitcom dives deep into the chaotic lives of a ragtag team of young gamers training together in a crumbling Mumbai bootcamp, chasing championship dreams in a world that rarely gives them second chances. But behind the flashy screens and tournament pressure lies a tightly knit group navigating friendship, love, and identity, under the leadership of their fierce and fearless manager, Joanna, brought to life by Anjali Sivaraman.
Reflecting on what made the role feel special, Anjali shared, “I hope when people see Joanna's journey, they feel motivated and inspired. She’s a strong girl who knows how to hold her own, even among this rowdy group of boys. What I love about her is that she’s not trying to be ‘one of the guys’. She’s her own person.”
What stood out most to Anjali was the way Joanna balances her strength with softness. She added, “The boys are all softies deep down and would do anything to protect her, but Joanna doesn’t really need protecting. She’s emotionally open, she’s vulnerable, and she wears her heart on her sleeve, and that’s what makes her relatable. She doesn’t hide behind a tough exterior, and I think there’s power in that. I hope audiences, especially young women, feel inspired to embrace both their strength and softness.”
Directed by Arya Deo and produced by Abhinay Deo, Gamerlog features Darsheel Safary, Anjali Sivaraman, Chinmay Chandraunshuh, Kunal Bhan, Chetan Dhawan, Shubroy Chowdhury, and Akash Menon in pivotal roles. The series is now available to stream for free exclusively on Amazon MX Player.
