Anirudh Tewari inaugurates new CII office at Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 22, 2016: Anirudh Tewari, Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce and New and Renewable Energy, Punjab, on Friday agreed to take up revision of the labour laws in the state with the state government following recommendation of the Confederation of the Indian Industry Northern region.

During a meeting with CII members from Ludhiana Zonal Council he also agreed that Punjab government will work closely with CII to revise the existing set of labour laws. CII had suggested to the state government that the labour laws must be amended and a special task force of industry experts and officials be formed to work on the same. The Principal Secretary agreed to take up the CII recommendation.

Tewari also agreed to CII recommendations to resolve the issue of building code for Punjab and said that further action is being initiated on this front. He also said the Department of Investment Promotion and CII are in the process of compiling a comprehensive booklet on the initiatives taken under the Ease of Doing Business and a gamut of initiatives being taken by the government to promote investments in the state.

To further strengthen interaction and collaboration with the local industry, CII opened its new office here today. Tewari inaugurated the new CII office at SCO 29, Feroze Gandhi Market, Ferozepur Road.
