Amity University celebrates “Day of Belongingness”

During this difficult time of  COVID 19 when everyone is following social distancing and isolating themselves in safe zones, Amity University, Greater Noida campus and AIBS celebrates “Day of Belongingness” Belonging means care for everyone and acceptance as a member of the family. It is a human need which gives the feeling that you have many people around you and this brings out the best in everyone. Amity University in order to ignite the feeling of belongingness among society, employees and students celebrate ‘Day of Belongingness” on 7th May every year.
 
Founder President Dr.Ashok K Chauhan& Dr. Amita  Chauhan emphasised during celebrations of Day of Belongingness that Belongingness is one of the supreme qualities everyone should have. If we can inculcate it, it will make this world a much better place. Dr. Atul Chauhan; Chancellor of Amity University & Mrs. Pooja Chauhan attended and encouraged all the participants to engage themselves in upgrading their skills and contributing more towards developing the emotional & Human qualities. The event was started  with the welcome address by Professor  (Dr.) Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor Amity Education group started the event the welcome address. In his address, he said that Belongingness is the need of today, especially in these difficult times. This feeling of Amity towards its students differentiates it from other organizations. Displaying belongingness towards their faculties and students, Dr. Gurinder Singh also commended the efforts of faculties and staff and gave them awards. He further announced 3 International conferences, 10 books with collaborative work with leading foreign authors and 5 Scopus indexed journals to be released on the day of belongingness. He also elaborated that Amity is providing a solution to all the problems of the students who had to go abroad in 2020 to pursue their programs in India and go later to various Foreign Universities.
                                                                                                                                                                            
Amity University Greater Noida Campus and Amity International Business School conducted a large number of events for the Day. The events saw thousands of students participate from various campuses all over India and abroad. All competitions were based on one theme- BELONGINGNESS. This one quality which binds the whole humanity together. It brings out the care and compassion in every person when you have this wonderful thought. It can be caring for old persons in Society, Caring for underprivileged persons in Society, caring for each other in an organization, caring for the nature and preserving it by shunning plastics, caring for the plants and trees or caring for the organization. Events were Brand Quest, Mock Stock, Hackathon, Debate Competition, Case Study Competition, Online Quiz Competition, Poster Making Competition, Virtual Singing and Instrumental music Competition and Video Case Studies competition.
 
In addition to the above programs, Global spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar Ji also addressed the faculties and students and highlighted the importance of the value- Belongingness. He said that this thought itself brings out the best in a person. This emotion is what the world needs today if we can adopt it, the world be a great place to live in. Dr. G Satheesh Reddy, Chairman DRDO and Secretary of Defence R & D, Govt of India also addressed the faculties and students. He brought out how much DRDO is contributing to present COVID related efforts, how many types of equipment have been developed by DRDO, which will help the nation to neutralize the threat of COVID. He specially mentioned the tunnels through persons can walk and they will get decontaminated from the CORONA virus in the process.

Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Atul Chauhan also interacted with the students and faculties and shared how various values, especially Belongingness are being promoted by Amity. He mentioned that Amity had taken care of food arrangements of thousands of persons in these difficult times, accommodated people in Amity for Quarantine, stitched thousands of masks and provided to needy persons and many more activities.
 
Number of initiatives by Amity in which associations with foreign Universities were formalized, were also announced and ten formal agreements with International Universities were also announced. These arrangements will provide a great platform to students in which part of the studies can be done in India and the balance can be done in prestigious Universities abroad.
During the period of lockdown, it was amazing to see more than thousands of participants from different places including foreign universities and Amitians coming together and making a strong bond towards universal brotherhood and display sense of belongingness.  The day stressed upon the great quality of care and compassion, which all must imbibe so that we can make this world a better place. The day was concluded with a resolve to work even more actively for society.
