Administration appoints Para International Badminton players Ashwani, Shabana, Para TT player Shubham as PWD icons in Ludhiana

The District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney has appointed para International Badminton players Ashwani Kumar, his wife Shabana and an international para table tennis player Shubham Wadhwa as the district icons for Persons With Disability (PWD) voters in the Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, March 28, 2024: The District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney has appointed para International Badminton players Ashwani Kumar, his wife Shabana and an international para table tennis player Shubham Wadhwa as the district icons for Persons With Disability (PWD) voters in the Ludhiana. 

Congratulating them, Sawhney said that to encourage the PWD voters to cast their votes at respective booths on the voting day (June 1)  the administration has declared them as district icons for the PWD voters. 

Sawhney said that Election Commission of India was committed for ensuring wider participation of PWD voters in the democratic process and administration would make every effort would be made to facilitate the PWD voters coming to cast their votes and it would be ensured that they do not face any trouble while moving in the booths. She said that the administration would prepare an elaborate movement and facility plan for the PWD voters at the polling booths on the voting day. 

Sawhney also said that there were around 16650 PWD voters across the district and the administration was duty-bound to make special arrangements to facilitate PWD voters at the polling booths across the district.  She said that the district administration would ensure provision of wheelchairs, ramps, helpers and others at all booths during the polling day on June 1.

She expressed hope that they will prove a boon for the administration in ensuring maximum participation of the PWD voters. 
The Icons also expressed gratitude to the administration and said that all voters should participate in this festival of elections and become the pride of the country.
