Tarn Taran, October 28, 2025: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) became stronger in Tarn Taran today, as several prominent leaders from the Gujjar community bid farewell to traditional parties and joined AAP.
AAP Punjab’s Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi formally inducted all the leaders into the party and welcomed them in the presence of Late MLA Kashmir Singh Sohal’s wife Navjot Kaur Sohal, Chairman Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia, and Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat.
Addressing the media, Working President Sherry Kalsi said that the party’s strength is growing day by day. He said that due to the dedicated efforts of District Incharge Madam Anju and Captain Baldev Singh, several prominent leaders of the Gujjar community, including Rashid Muhammad, Babbu, Husn, Param, Bishan Singh, and Guggu, along with many families, have joined AAP today. He extended a warm welcome to all the new members.
Kalsi also put an end to the recent political rumors circulating in the area. He clarified that certain mischievous elements were spreading false propaganda about Sarpanch Sadha Singh of village Gaggubhuha. The Sarpanch, along with his team members Jarnail Singh, Jagjit Singh, Gurwant Singh, Paramjit Singh, and Tajinder Singh, attended the event and made it clear that they are working day and night for the party and stand firmly with AAP and Harmeet Sandhu.
On this occasion, Navjot Sohal, wife of the late MLA, said that she is continuing her husband’s legacy of public service. She thanked the families who joined AAP and expressed confidence that just as they stood with Dr. Sohal in the past, they will now continue to work for the strengthening of the party.
Chairman Dr. S.S. Ahluwalia said that joining AAP does not only strengthen the party but also strengthens Punjab. He said that this marks a boost to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s fight against corruption and his pro-development agenda. He assured that there will be no shortcomings in the ongoing development works of the constituency.
Mandi Board Chairman Harchand Singh Barsat highlighted the major achievements of the Mann government. He said that 90% of households are receiving 600 units of free electricity, free bus travel for women, Mohalla Clinics, upgraded schools, and the construction of 19,500 kilometers of link roads are historic accomplishments. He held the previous Akali and Congress governments responsible for Punjab’s economic destruction. He also accused the Central Government of withholding ₹8,500 crore of Punjab’s Rural Development Fund (RDF), stating that the state government is fighting a legal battle to secure this amount.
In conclusion, AAP leaders said that the people of the constituency have now realized that when there is an AAP government, only AAP’s MLA can truly ensure the development of the constituency, while representatives of other parties merely indulge in mudslinging and act as obstacles to progress.
