AAP govt missing from ground, only hollow promises to flood victims - Brahmpura
Pontoon Bridge in Gharka being rebuilt with villagers’ efforts, Brahmpura contributes aid
This is time to stand with people, not politics
Tarn Taran, September 26, 2025: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former legislator Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, in-charge of Khadoor Sahib constituency, today visited village Gharka which suffered extensive damage in the recent floods, and personally extended financial assistance to the affected residents. In the absence of any government aid, Brahmpura handed over Rs 35,000 for diesel expenses to help villagers rebuild the flood-ravaged Pontoon Bridge connecting Gharka with Sultanpur Lodhi.
Accompanied by senior SAD leader Satnam Singh Chohla Sahib, Brahmpura inspected the ongoing reconstruction work carried out by villagers themselves. Praising their efforts, he assured all possible support and also announced that Shiromani Akali Dal will provide certified high-quality wheat seed to farmers who lost their standing crops.
Addressing the media, Brahmpura said that nearly 16,500 acres of standing crop across 16 villages in the constituency had been completely destroyed by floods, yet no representative of the Aam Aadmi Party government had visited the affected families. "This is not the time for politics, but for standing firmly with our people in their time of distress," he said.
He added that besides financial support, further assistance would also be extended for silt removal from fields and restoration of local infrastructure.
Those present on the occasion included Satnam Singh Ball, Baljit Singh Bal, Dalbir Singh Bal, Gurwinder Singh, Harprem Singh, Sarbjit Singh, Beant Singh, Jasbir Singh, Jujhar Singh, Lakhwinder Singh Bal and Gurbhej Singh Bal.
