Rohtak, August 23, 2025: The five-day Film Workshop, jointly organized by Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) and Cine Foundation Haryana, concluded today with the screening of six short films created by the participants during the course of the workshop. The valedictory session, was attended by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya, Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, Rajesh from Vishwa Samvad Kendra, and the entire faculty of the Film & TV Department.
Six teams, each comprising 5-6 participants, had shot short films on campus under the mentorship of Head Film & TV Mahesh T.P., Head of Editing Indranil and Head of Audiography Debashish Roy, supported by the varsity students. The screening reflected the diverse ideas and creative energies that the workshop had nurtured over the past week.
One of the standout films, “Pagal”, made by Team Devanand, drew applause from the audience. The film made a sharp, poignant yet bone-tickling commentary on environmental preservation, told through the story of a half-witted character who inadvertently becomes the conscience of the society around him.
Following the screenings, team leaders from each group shared their experiences, acknowledging how the workshop had offered them valuable learning, exposure, and a platform to experiment with cinematic expression.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya felicitated all the participants, experts, teachers, mentors, and volunteers who contributed to making the workshop a success. He praised the organizing team, including Prof. Rakesh Yogi, Hariom Kaushik, Vikas, Ramesh and Vibhanshu Vaibhav.
Dr. Amit Arya also expressed appreciation for Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha for her supervision and facilitation throughout the workshop.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, VC Dr. Arya remarked, “This workshop has shown us what young minds are capable of when guided by experienced mentors. The creativity, discipline, and teamwork on display in these short films are truly inspiring. The takeaways from this workshop must not remain here; they should shape your careers and your approach to filmmaking. DLC SUPVA is committed to continuing such initiatives and will soon organize similar workshops in Visual Arts, Design, and Architecture as well.”
The five-day workshop brought together eminent experts from the film industry and academia to train 30 shortlisted participants in screenwriting, acting, cinematography, direction, editing, sound design, and production practices.
