41 Micro observers to keep vigil on polling day in SBS Nagar

Nawanshahr, February 18, 2022: To minutely observe the proceedings at every polling booth, ensuring peaceful and transparent polls, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar administration has deputed 41 micro-observers for the polling day in the district.

Terming the micro-observers as ears and eyes of the Election Commission of India (ECI), General Observer Amod Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that Micro-observers have a huge role to play for free, fair and peaceful assembly elections in the district. They said that micro observers have to keep close vigil on the overall election process of the polling booth/s assigned to them on February 20.

They said that the Micro Observers would have to get the mock poll done before the actual polling starts at 8 am on February 20 as a gear up exercise for the polling staff, besides ensuring that election work has been carried out in a free and fair manner and there is no violation of any kind.

Further, General Observer Amod Kumar and Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that the micro observers have to report about facilities in the polling station, ensure presence of polling agents, entry pass system, proper identification of electors in accordance with ECI, writing down particulars of electors in register 17-A, including mentioning documents used for identifying the voter, marking of indelible ink on forefinger, secrecy of voting, conduct of polling agents, their complaints and others.
