3-Day Entrepreneurial and Skill Development Workshop concluded at Home Science College

Three days Entrepreneurial and skill development workshop organized by Innovation Entrepreneurship and Placement (IEP) Cell of Govt Home Science College, in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Sachtek Foundation concluded today. 

3-Day Entrepreneurial and Skill Development Workshop concluded at Home Science College

Chandigarh, February 8, 2024: Three days Entrepreneurial and skill development workshop organized by Innovation Entrepreneurship and Placement (IEP) Cell of Govt Home Science College, in collaboration with Regional Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Sachtek Foundation concluded today. 

Harjinder Singh Cheema, owner of Cheema Boilers Limited was Guest of Honour. He enlightened the students with his challenging entrepreneurial journey and encouraged students to think positively no matter how many challenges they face in life. He talked about how success and failure are part of life and how important it is to plan ahead for one’s future. 

Cheema shared that dreaming big and converging business idea into plan is pre-requisite for becoming a successful entrepreneur. He added that perseverance, hard work and confidence are essential traits of an entrepreneur. During this 3 day workshop, students were apprised with numerous important government schemes for budding entrepreneurs. 

Earlier on second day of the workshop, Satwinder Singh from Sachtek Educational Society elaborated on the MSME initiatives and various associated schemes, providing attendees with practical tools and resources.  To provide experiential learning to students, a live recipe demonstration of an Italian dish risotto was given by Chef. Jaswinder and his students Simar and Mudit from University Institute of Hotel Management, PU, Chandigarh. They demonstrated a modified version of the recipe by adding millets into it and replacing it with some core healthy ingredients. They sensitized the students about millets and their importance. 

The concluding day witnessed distribution of certificates to the participants by Cheema, Paramjeet Singh from RCED, Davinder Singh and Anil Kumar from DIC Chandigarh. 

Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal motivated the students to be innovative and to take on challenges as luck favours those who help themselves. She was elated at the enthusiastic response given by the students in attended this workshop. She added that such workshops are need of hour to broaden the horizons of the students and make them Atam Nirbhar.
