Chandigarh: Park Hospital Mohali on Friday announced the launch of advanced robotic kidney transplant.
Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan  director robotic urology & renal transplant at Park Hospital Mohali addressing a press conference here today said,” Besides robotic transplants, we are doing all type of living donor transplants, which include high risk transplants, paediatric transplants swap cases, ABO incompatible transplants (non-blood group specific) & redo transplants.”
He further said that 2.2 lakh new patients develop chronic kidney failure in our country every year and it is also the 6th fastest growing cause of death, which may change to become the 5th leading cause by 2040. High bp, diabetes, BPH, untreated kidney stones and UTI are the main reasons of kidney failure in India, he informed.
Dr Mukesh Goyal director nephrology said, “The prevalence of Chronic kidney failure disease has almost doubled over the past decade, and is expected to increase further due to rise in risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, stress, and unhealthy eating habits,”
Every 10 minutes one person is added to the organ transplant waiting list in India and 20 people die every day for want of an organ in India, said Dr Manav Goyal consultant urology & renal transplant.
Dr Kalpesh Satapara consultant nephrology said that by donating organs, a deceased donor person can save the lives of up to 8 individuals by way of organ donation and enhance the lives of over 50 people by way of tissue donation.
