Chandigarh, September 15, 2022: The two day virtual 10th cardiology world conference ‘Cardiomersion 2022’ concluded on Thursday. As many as 86 speakers from 19 countries across the globe participated in the conference.

The conference with a theme ‘Revealing Innovations in Cardiology for Healthy Heart’ was organized by Mohali based Dr Deepak Puri who is a founder chairman of Cardiomersion and director of CTVS at Max Hospital, Mohali.

The conference covered all aspects of comprehensive management right from primordial prevention in childhood to primary prevention in young age as well as early diagnosis, simplest medical treatment as well.

During the conference , Eric Lehr from Seattle and Johannes Bonatti from Pittsburgh talked about complications needing interventions, latest techniques of procedures like minimally invasive surgeries and robotic surgeries. Tomoko S kato from Japan spoke on the current guidelines to develop heart and lung transplant programs.

Dr. DK Satsangi the president of Maitreya Foundation and former professor and head, AIIMS,Rishikesh talked about role of homograft, while Dr. Vivek Jawali, chairman Fortis Healthcare, Bangalore spoke on the latest views on Endarterectomy during bypass surgery for totally occluded arteries.

Dr. Deepak Puri talked on integrated approach to deliver comprehensive cost effective cardiovascular disease management improves outcomes during Covid pandemic .

He said that in the last decade several advances have been made in the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery and cardiac anesthesia to deliver least invasive and best interventions for cardiac patients. At the same time the importance of primordial, primary prevention, rehabilitation and secondary prevention cannot be ignored. Neither can we ignore the role of early identification of risk factors, early diagnosis and optimal utilization of unconventional methods to deliver cost effective treatment to the patients, he opined.

Moreover, the Covid pandemic has changed the spectrum of heart and lung diseases and further worsened the complications which have to be taken care of among all age groups with special focus on elderly population with comorbidities, he maintained.

The conference was initially planned to be held in Paris but due to Covid restrictions it was organized  virtual keeping in view the safety issues.

Meanwhile, now a Global Trust, Cardiomersion was started as a global group in 2011 to promote integrated approach for comprehensive cost effective management of cardiovascular and thoracic diseases.
