The 13th edition of the Free Spirit Film Festival commences from October 27

Dharamshala, October 26, 2017: The Free Spirit Film Festival is celebrating its 13th edition with 25 films from around the world. Fourteen of the films are from India in various categories . The Free Spirit Film Festival is the annual film festival being organised in McLeod Ganj, Upper Dharamshala . It was launched by Lobsang Wangyal Productions in 2004 as the “Tibetan Film Festival” and was renamed “Free Spirit Film Festival” in 2008. It also has another name: “McLeod Ganj International Film Festival”.
Lobsang said, “This film festival is independent of any restrictions and has no affiliation to any government or organisation. The Festival is aimed at sharing beautiful stories, concerns, interests, and creativity. The Festival particularly promotes independent filmmakers.”
He added that 25 films have been selected from over a hundred film submissions from around the world. Some of the film directors and producers will be joining the festival.
Lobsang said,”I am thankful to all those who believe in us and submit their films in our festival. Because of limited time we had to disappoint many by being unable to accept their excellent films — they would have made it into the festival had we had more time.”
There will be four feature films, two documentaries, and the rest are in short film categories.
“To honour and celebrate their best films, 13 awards will be given in different categories, decided by a grand jury. The audience will choose the Audience Award,” added Lobsang.
The films shall be Aval Pinne Ayaalum- Directed by Sujith Dass,The Compasses-Directed by Meysam Abbasi, Consolation-Directed by Pawel Podlejski, Dasha the Fool-Directed by Valentina Lukashchuk, The End of Wind-Directed by Fog Forest, Eni-Directed by Ashvin Meshram, The Free Spirit-Directed by Rahman Leenin, Gull-Directed by Doug Kass Odessa, Her First Time-Directed by Divya Unny and so on.
He said that Screening of the films will begin at 6pm every evening from Friday, 27th October, for five days at Hotel Tibet. Each evening will have five films -- one feature film and four shorter ones, making the evening go about two and a hour hours.
