12-Day Universal Human Values Students Induction Programme Concludes at Government College of Education
The 12-day Students' Induction Programme (SIP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) for B.Ed. Semester-III students concluded at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, on Friday. Organised by the college's UHV Cell in collaboration with the UHV Cell of Panjab University, the programme was held from July 20 to August 1 in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Chandigarh, August 1, 2026: The 12-day Students' Induction Programme (SIP) on Universal Human Values (UHV) for B.Ed. Semester-III students concluded at Government College of Education, Sector 20-D, Chandigarh, on Friday. Organised by the college's UHV Cell in collaboration with the UHV Cell of Panjab University, the programme was held from July 20 to August 1 in accordance with the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The programme began on July 20 with an orientation on the Students' Induction Programme and the significance of Universal Human Values in education. The inaugural session was conducted by Dean Dr. A.K. Srivastava, who introduced students to the concepts of value-based education, holistic development and the role of education in nurturing responsible individuals. Participants also explored the fundamental human aspirations of continuous happiness and prosperity as the foundation of holistic education. The concluding session was attended by Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda and UHV expert Dr. Vishal Kumar, focused on self-evaluation and reflection, enabling students to assess their learning and share key takeaways from the programme.
The induction programme introduced students to the concept of Universal Human Values and their role in education, holistic development and personal well-being. Sessions covered topics such as value education, basic human aspirations, health, relationships, peer pressure, self-confidence, cooperation, gratitude and responsible decision-making. Students also explored the importance of trust, respect, affection, care, guidance, reverence, gratitude, glory and love in building meaningful relationships. Interactive discussions and a video session on "Right Here Right Now" encouraged participants to reflect on responding thoughtfully to everyday situations.
The programme was facilitated by Dr. Sheojee Singh, Dr. Vandana Aggarwal, Dr. Nisha Singh, Dr. Ravinder Kumar and Dr. Garima Joshi from the UHV Cells of the college and Panjab University. The inaugural session was conducted by Dr. A.K. Srivastava, Dean of the college.
Addressing the students, Dr. Sapna Nanda appreciated their enthusiastic participation and urged them to apply the values learnt during the programme in both their personal and professional lives. She emphasised that self-awareness, ethical conduct and value-based education are essential for shaping responsible educators.
The programme concluded with a reflection session, reinforcing the significance of Universal Human Values in nurturing holistic development and preparing future teachers to foster value-based learning environments.
