World Pharmacist Day observed at DMCH

Ludhiana, September 25, 2021: World Pharmacist Day is celebrated every year on 25th September. DMCH observed this day by conducting an online session for the pharmacists of DMCH to upgrade their knowledge. The purpose of this day is to encourage and promote the role of Pharmacists in improving health care activities. This year theme is “Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health”.
Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary DMCH Managing Society said that DMCH strives to provide good quality medicines at lower cost to make the healthcare affordable.
Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal DMCH congratulate the all pharmacist and appreciated their efforts during the period of pandemic. Dr Puri further said that pharmacist is an integral part of any health care system as they are bridging the gap between the patient and physician.  
During the session Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean Academics, HOD Department of Pharmacology, Chairperson, Drug & Therapeutic Committee highlighted about the good dispensing practices. In his message Dr Kaushal said that every pharmacist should follow ethics and guidelines while dispensing the medicine with the purpose of right medicine to the right patient and at the right time. The patients have the faith in doctors which needs to be further strengthened by the healthcare professional like pharmacists, nurses etc.
Dr Bharti Mahajan Professor, Department of Pharmacology and MO Incharge Pharmacy and Dr Kanchan Gupta, Professor, Department of Pharmacology and Secretary Drug & Therapeutics Committee talked about high risk medication and discussed various guidelines about the medications. They also discussed best practices for storage of medications and consumables.

At the end of the session, best pharmacists for the year 2021 were announced  by Dr Kaushal and he acknowledged their remarkable performance. DMCH has its 20 retail pharmacies and more than 180 registered pharmacists are associated with DMCH pharmacy. DMCH pharmacy ensures the seven rights that are: Patient, Dose, Route, Time, Drug, Information, Documentations.
