World Hepatitis Day observed at DMCH
To observe World Hepatitis Day 28th July 2025, themed “Let’s Break It Down’ the Department of Microbiology and Medicine jointly organized various activities aimed at raising awareness and fostering collaborative learning on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of hepatitis.

Ludhiana, July 30, 2025: To observe World Hepatitis Day 28th July 2025, themed “Let’s Break It Down’ the Department of Microbiology and Medicine jointly organized various activities aimed at raising awareness and fostering collaborative learning on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of hepatitis.
Intra-department al symposium titled ‘Viral Hepatitis was conducted with enthusiastic participation from faculty and residents across Medicine, Microbiology, Pathology, Transfusion Medicine, Community Medicine, and Interns enriching the academic dialogue and underlining the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to combating hepatitis. As part of the observance, a poster and slogan writing competition, for B.Sc. MLT and Paramedical students, Quiz on viral hepatitis for undergraduate and Post graduate students was organized, encouraging them to creatively express their understanding of hepatitis prevention and control.
Awareness sessions on overview of Viral Hepatitis was conducted for nursing, technical staff and paramedical students. A key highlight of the day was a role play presented by nursing students, which emphasized the frontline role of healthcare workers in the identification, care, and prevention of viral hepatitis. Their performance brought attention to the importance of awareness, empathy, and early intervention in managing the disease.
In his message, Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, appreciated the organizing team for their efforts in conducting a meaningful and impactful awareness programme. He remarked, “Such initiatives highlight the institution’s ongoing commitment to community well-being and proactive health education”
Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H said that raising awareness about viral hepatitis through academic collaboration is a commendable step toward improving healthcare outcome.
Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head of Microbiology, added, “Hepatitis remains a significant public health challenge. Interdepartmental collaboration is not only beneficial but essential for effective surveillance and management strategies.”
Dr. Rajesh Mahajan, Professor & Head of Medicine, stated, “Events like these play a crucial role in strengthening our collective understanding of viral hepatitis. Through collaborative learning, we can ensure more timely diagnosis and better patient outcomes.”
