World Environment Day Celebrated at DMCH

The Department of Microbiology, DMC&H, organized an event today to celebrate World Environment Day. The aim of this event is to promote  environment awareness and sustainable healthcare practices among students and staff.

Ludhiana, June 5, 2025: The Department of Microbiology, DMC&H, organized an event today to celebrate World Environment Day. The aim of this event is to promote  environment awareness and sustainable healthcare practices among students and staff.
 
Various activities were conducted to commemorate World Environment Day, including a poster-making competition and a reel-making competition for the MBBS Batch of 2023. Quiz competitions were held for both MBBS and paramedical students, along with a tree plantation drive. All the winners were felicitated with prizes in recognition of their creativity and dedication to environmental causes.

The occasion was graced by the dignitaries including Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society; Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&H Managing Society; Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H; and Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Medical Superintendent. Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Microbiology, along with all faculty members of the department, were also present.

Student representatives Ms. Komal Bohria and Mr. Trish from the Green Initiative Club played a pivotal role in coordinating the event. Faculty members from the Committee on Climate Action and Climate Change in Healthcare also actively participated, underscoring the institution’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, remarked, Protecting our environment is not just a responsibility but a necessity and he commended the Department of Microbiology for their dedicated efforts in promoting awareness through diverse activities.

Dr. G.S. Wander, Principal, DMC&H, said, “It is heartening to witness the enthusiasm of our students and staff towards environmental sustainability. Such initiatives are vital to inculcate eco-friendly practices within healthcare settings.

Dr. Veenu Gupta, Professor & Head, Department of Microbiology, stated, “These celebrations emphasize the role of education and active participation in addressing environmental challenges, especially within the healthcare sector. Our commitment remains steadfast towards fostering a greener and healthier future.”

All attendees concluded the event by taking a solemn pledge to protect the environment and contribute actively towards sustainable development.
