Workshop on Robotics and Industrial Automation organised in Doaba College

Jalandhar, April 4, 2022: Department of Mathematics of Doaba college  DBT  sponsored   one day workshop cum short term industrial training programme  on the topic “Robotics and Industrial Automation” with collaboration of central institute of Hand Tools ,Jalandhar. Govt of India Society. Mr. Sarabjeet Singh (Mechanical Engineer) and Mr.Harkrishan Pal Singh (Electrical Engineer) from Central Institute of Hand Tool graced the occasion as Resouce Persons.They were accorded a hearty welcome by Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Principal; Prof Naveen Joshi,  Prof. Gulshan Sharma-Scheme Coordinator. teaqhing staff  and 135 students . 

Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari said that automation  is used to  solve  problems in Mathematics using computer algorithms .further, he explained  that organising such type of workshop  achieve its purpose only if the students make full use of such sessions by participating physically and mentally both .He also emphasised that industrial  skill training is must for enabling students employable .
Prof. Gulshan Sharma informed that DBT Star college scheme   has provided an opportunity to establish  Mathematical Laboratory  in Doaba College where students can learn Mathematics by doing  Mathematical activities which helps in visualizing  abstract concepts. 
 In the First Session Er.Sarabjeet Singh started by giving details about different skill development activities performed by central institute of Hand tools .he further explained why there is  Need of Robotics . He discussed about machatronics ,various sensor,Basic commissioning of Robot with the help of mobile .He showed to the students one mobile Robot named as Robotino, manufactured by Germany based company named FESTO and Programming of Mobile Robot ( Robotino) with the help of Robotino view software on MATLAB to give students understanding of how programming works inside robot so  in order to give students practical training he performed MATLAB  programming of forward, backward ,sidewise movement and rotation, of robot..The first session concluded with queries   of students .
In Second Session , Mr.Harkrishan Pal Singh talked on Programmable logic controllers (PLC) wherein he discussed about various components of PLC, how to apply PLC based control to manufacturing system, to identify instrumentation required to implement a PLC control system and how to programme a PLC.
The event was brought to its culmination with a Vote of Thanks by Prof. Naveen Joshi, Coordinator of the event.
