Chandigarh, May 20, 2025: As many as 135 principals and teachers from different affiliated colleges of Panjab University participated in the day long workshop on NEP implementation in Panjab University.

The prestigious workshop on “Smooth Implementation of New Education Policy (NEP) in the Affiliated Colleges of Panjab University” was organised by Dean College Development Council (DCDC), Panjab University, Chandigarh at Rajiv Gandhi College Bhawan, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

In his welcome address, Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean, College Development Council, highlighted the contributions of all the stakeholders including the principals and faculty of the colleges for successful implementation of 1st year of NEP in the colleges.  He expressed hope that 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of NEP in graduation shall be implemented without any difficulties.

Director, Research and Development Cell, Panjab University Prof. Meenakshi Goyal praised the PU for adopting the NEP and described it is a big step towards improving education. She said NEP 2020 aims to make learning more flexible, practical, and rooted in Indian values. She also talked about giving students more choices in what they learn.

Centre of Police Administration and the Coordinator, NEP at PU, Prof. Anil Monga, began his address with a powerful thought ‘Education is the most powerful weapon if we want to bring about any change.” He gave a detailed presentation on various components of NEP 2020—from structural reforms to credit systems and assessment models.

Department of Education, former NEP Coordinator Prof. Latika Sharma, stressed the need to make higher education more practical and student-focused. She said many college seats go unfilled because courses don’t match students’ interests or career goals. She called for more flexible learning options, real-life training like internships, and better communication between teachers and students to support lifelong learning.

The workshop concluded with an interactive session, during which queries from principals and teachers were thoughtfully addressed.
